So the files that you are trying to open were created using the latest version of PowerPoint, right? If that is the case, then the reason why you are not able to open the files in the old version of ms PowerPoint is the format you saved the files in.

When using the latest versions of ms office application like ms PowerPoint 2010 or ms PowerPoint 2007, you are required to save the files in the compatibility format to be able to  open the same files  using the older version of the ms office program, and therefore you will just need to back where you saved the files and then save them in the ms PowerPoint 97-2003 format.

Hi Jorge I totally agree with that! some files really pissed me off especially I saved then even after my computer was reformat and boom~ I wasn't able to open them too.

I also tried converting them using a converter which you can also try and maybe might work for you too.

I was interested to look for a tutorial in Photoshop too. and all i can find is techyv to asked you guys lol.

Hi Jorge,

You need to download and install compatibility pack of Microsoft office to be able to open your old PowerPoint, Word and Excel files. You can download the installer of the pack here http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3.

To install the application, make sure first that your system is all up to date with all the required updates installed. If your computer is not updated, you need to install the updates first prior to the installation of the conversion. You just need to double click on the fileformatconverter.exe program on your hard disk to start the installation.

You just need to follow the installation prompt on your screen.

Hi I'm really also fed up with my old files after updating new version of windows, I also encountered my not so updated files in excel being corrupted. Nah not corrupted but unable to open.

That's why I'm very curious if I can also use these link to fix them. and that really helped at least I can now use them.

Thank you for the help. Its been good that I've opened my techyv account, its been my problem ever since… got my school files and writings there that I still want to publish and yet I wouldn't be able to open them. Anyways, the link you've sent George really helped.

I got answers with your question buddy. It might just because the files you had weren't compatible anymore and I might suggest you to convert them and yes you can also use that link to update them. actually the link works and it might be easy more for you. good thing we got techyv and we can share more our learnings. anyways do anyone have a problem w/ their hard disks here? because i got some problem there.

LOL good that I saw this question and had answer to my problem but unfortunately I've already deleted some of my important files -_- tss. anyways maybe I can use this for future use. thanks for the solution!!!!!
