The clicks and surfs are inaccurate in my Del XPS 13 notebook. The pointer and the hand gestures do not match and it is getting very irritating. It’s like when I do not select things they get selected and when I do it, it doesn’t. Its very cumbersome how can I get it solved asap!

This can happen if a wrong driver for your touchpad has been installed. Check if it is the correct driver for your laptop. Normally, when you purchase a laptop, it always comes with a CD that contains different drivers. You can use this to install the devices found on your laptop.

But most of the time, the installers in the CD are not compatible with the device installed on your computer and also you may find the drivers in different versions. In case the setup CD that came with your laptop has several versions of the touchpad driver, you probably installed the wrong one.

To fix the problem, click Start, Control Panel, and then Add or Remove Programs. Select the touchpad driver then click Uninstall or Remove to uninstall it. Restart your computer and then install a different driver from the setup CD. Another way of fixing the issue on your touchpad is to install a driver updater to make sure your touchpad is using the latest and correct driver.

To update the touchpad driver on your laptop and to install the correct driver, download and install Dell Update. This utility helps you automate the installation of application and driver updates specific for your device.
