Hello,
I streamed an online video on December 31st, but when I went to the "recent" folder on January 1st, it displayed a wrong date of December 30th in the "date modified" field. It has also shown the accurate date as well, but I am definite that I have streamed the video only on December 31st
I know that they are all shortcut files in the "recent" folder… are dates related to shortcut files wrong? Can anyone please share the knowledge on this?

First check your computers date ,whether 31 is set or not. Sometime it occurs when due to some technical error of the operating system
Dates are related to shortcut files in recent item. Clean up your PC fully using  Microsoft security essential and all will be ok.

In this situation either one of these two situation happened. The very first thing is
a. May be your machine is infected with the virus as a result it was showing wrong date modification. There is lot of virus that changed date and time or damage file completely or make file or folder invisible.
2nd thing isÂ
You may be downloaded the file in December 30 and then copy or replace the file somewhere else when the date is 31 but didn't notice it. That is why it is now your mindset that you have downloaded the file in December 31
