Hello Experts,

I am attempting to try out the 30 day free trial version of G Data Antivirus 2012 Beta and I find that an error occurs while launching the antivirus. G Data Tuner reports an error when opening database. I have attached a screenshot of the error received. I tried running a program update from ‘Actions’ after choosing Software updates. But this did not fix the problem. I also tried running a virus signature update manually and found that I had no luck with this step either. I did not face any issue while downloading this software and the installation too completed smoothly. Should I try reinstalling the software to fix this issue? Did anyone else face a similar issue? Please help me by sharing any ideas on how to go about fixing this issue. I am using windows 7, 64 bit version on my computer. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Please check out the following two registry enteries from windows regedit.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionexplorerShell Folders,  you should find an entry  "Common AppData" (REG_SZ) Value: C:ProgramData

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionexplorerShell Folders, you should find an entry  "Common AppData" (REG_SZ) Value: C:ProgramData

If both the entries are found then the error lies somewhere else. In that case use  AVCleaner to remove all traces of the G Data software. This tool is specially good in removing G data (available free on internet for download). After cleansing restart the system and then install the Antivirus again, first run the update and then run the scan post reboot.
