I am looking for someone to help me create a VPN over the internet between two computers.

The two computers are connected to two Windows 2003 servers and all interactions between the two computers should be via the VPN tunnel.

Any idea on how to achieve this is welcome.

Hi Charlesc

If you want to escape the hassle of going through lengthy procedures then using a free VPN tool is the best idea

You can try any of the following:

  • Gbridge
  • OpenVPN
  • Hamachi

Hello.

Have you tried using LogMeIn Hamachi?

It is a shareware virtual private network application.

All you need to do is:

1. Download it from here
2. Install it.
3. Log yourself in and give your pc a name.

4. Then using the programs interface go to networks and create new network.

5. Give your new network a name and a password which you will need later.

If you managed to create a new network now go to the other pc.

Now repeat the first 3 steps on this pc as well.

Now instead of creating a new network you will go to join an existing network.

All you need is to now type in the name of the network you created on the other pc and type in the password you assigned to you created network.

You shod now see the pc in your Hamachi interface with the name you gave your pc.

Right click on it and when the menu appears chose ping so you can test the connection.

Now if everything is properly configured it shod display you the value of ms in which the pc are communicating.

Hope this helps.

LogMeIn Hamachi sounds perfect.

I just installed it according to your steps and it's perfect.

I just had some troubles with the connection but overall, it works perfectly fine.

The two computers are now connected.

Thank you Advices for your help.
