Couldn’t change system configuration with McAfee virus protection Plus Elite program installed

I am running McAfee Virus protection Plus Elite program and wanted to change the System Configuration Start up but I get the error message below.

Could it be that the program does not allow for systems modification or is it a virus preventing the changes because I tried this on the Administrator Account.

Can anyone help me on this.

Thanks.

Hi,

Let's say McAfee is preventing you to do such, so let's consider doing a workaround for this problem.

Do turn off your McAfee services for a moment. To do this go to taskmanager by doing ctrl+alt+delete or simply start then run or type in the search field taskmanager then hit enter. Thus, should open taskmanager window.

In the services & processes tab select anything that has McAfee on it then click on end process or end task.

Now, do the system configuration changes you wanted to do. See if you can change it now.

Check & uncheck them boxes then apply, close then do a restart so your McAfee will then again turn back on.

If the above steps still wouldn't work… then let's go safemode.

Reboot your pc and start tapping f8 on your keyboard right at the very first screen that shows up

Then select safe mode with networking.

Log in as an administrator, then do the system configuration changes you wanted to do.

Then restart your computer to go back to windows in normal mode.

By now, changes should have been applied.

You can change the System Configuration Start up.

Your computer might be attacked by viruses which is restricting you to make any change.

You need to update your virus protection and run a boot time scan.

If that does not work you have to run windows setup.
