I am trying to install Windows 7 using a disk which I burned and copied from the original disk borrowed from a friend. But I always stopped with error “Windows cannot copy files for installation. ”

I am not sure if the problem is with the disk or with my computer system itself. What are those files that cannot be copied? How can I fix this?

Before starting the installation of windows 7 in in first order, you have to keep in mind Compatibility and Hardware requirements with Windows 7 x86/x64. Following is recommended requirements.

  • 1 giga hertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor.
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit).
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit).

Error code 0x80070017 generally refers to corrupt ISO Image/DVD. During installation, if this error is appearing due to ISO Image/burned DVD media, I would say that you have to download the ISO Image again as you may have corruption in the ISO itself.

After downloading the new copy of ISO, try to burn it on a lower setting 4x or 8x. After burning the disk on a lower setting with the new ISO, you may start the installation process again. I am sure that error will not be appeared.
