when i run disk clean up, Â it gets to the first three bars when checking the files(status bar says "compress old files") and then just hang there? if i close it down and run it up again, then it just never comes up at all.

click start, and then click run
-
type regedit, enter
-
locate and then click the following registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerVolumeCaches
on the file menu, click export and then click desktop, type volume caches in the file name box, and then click save.
-
expand the following registry key back
-
delete the compress old file registry key
-
quit registry editor

just follow the steps and take care because registry is dangerous.
