Warm greetings to all,

I am posting here an issue regarding MS Access. I pasted below an error message that I encountered while I was trying to run a query. When the query failed, I received the error message below.

Circular reference cause by alias ‘Dist-CC’ in query definition’s SELECT list.

I tried to review all the procedures that I made before I encountered the said error message. I have no idea about what went wrong which caused the error. This was also my first time to encounter this error.

Please help me solve this issue.

Hi Thomasredmall!

The error message "Circular reference caused by alias <field name> in query definition's SELECT list" occurs when a label name or alias of a calculated field (in your case, it's ‘Distcc’) that is used in the query has the same name as any other field that is used in the calculation.

Please take note that an alias should be unique. So what you can do is try to change the label name or alias that is being used in the calculated expression or you can also just let MS Access assign label name or alias automatically.
