Chkdsk error issue help needed

Hi guys,

I need some help from you who have wide knowledge in computer troubleshooting.  Last week, I ran the disk de-fragmenter utility of my PC to reorganize the noncontiguous files that I have in my hard drives. While it was running, I received the check disk error and it instructed me to run chkdsk/f.

When I initiated the disk check in the command prompt, it informed me that the hard drive which my laptop is using was used by another volume. I repeated the steps carefully but the de-fragmenter kept on showing me the same error.

Please give me any recommendation on how to solve this problem and it will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Good day!

When you initiated de-fragmenter in your PC, please don't run anything because this will make more troubles on it. When you turn on your computer, it's better to start first with the check disk option. Just double click the system drive, then select properties, then right click select tool, then click check disk now, then select all check disk option and finally press the start button. Wait until the word  which says the check disk is scheduled pop-up before the system restarts.

That is the proper time when you have to restart your PC for system check disk.

Hope this will help you a lot.

Hello Parthenope,

  • The defragmenter utility you have mentioned is probably a Malware. The actual disk de-fragmenter will not return any errors. The valid defragmenter will only consolidate your files or data by arranging them to the sectors of your drive to have a quick access when calling or using them.
  • This de-fragmenter you are using is a Malware. Also, you will be prevented to successfully open legitimate programs related to fix such errors. To resolve this, you have to download the latest Anti-spyware, Anti-Malware, and Anti-virus programs available and run a full system scan to get rid of the parasites in your system.
  • I would recommend you to use Avast Internet Security.

Jericho
