I have a Creative infra 48X CD driver. A bit old now though. When I press the eject CD button, it comes out but closes automatically.

Why is this?

You didn't mention in how much time does it closes automatically? On the old 48x or 52x CD drives, this was a common issue. They opened up and then closed automatically in say 30 seconds which was a fair time to insert a CD inside.

So that did not cause any problem or headache to the user.

Does your CD drive closes very quickly after opening?

Are you not able to insert the CD before it closes?

Has it been this way ever?

If you can give some detail of your problem, you can be given a precise solution. Also did you try using the CD drive with another PC?

You should try that too.

Hi there ,

I think you are having trouble with the CD drive automatic closing .

I think something is stuck inside the tray ribbons. This is something very uncommon, If you know how to open the C  D case and then clean it , then do it .

If not then contact your CD drive manufacturer. DVD drives are pretty cheap nowadays , You could get one at just 20$ , Check ebay for offers .

I suggest you don't buy second hand DVD drives , DVD drives available now are not lasting for more that 2 years (approx) so  better not to get a used one .

And from your talking its clear that CD drive is functioning properly so don't worry , this is not a serious case .

Good luck.
