Can’t watch videos in IE 9 without crashes

Every time I attempt to watch a video since switching to IE9, my computer crashes. It will act like the video is going to play and then it just crashes internet explorer. I always let it attempt to fix the problem but haven't had any luck yet. Is it possible to just go back to IE8 or is there something better out there in terms of watching videos? I'm homebound so I spend a lot of time using my laptopand watching videos.

Hi,

Reason why IE 9 crashes on some video files is cause IE 9 does not have automatic checking of suitable add-ons. Add-ons that worked on IE 7 and 8 may not work without making a few adjustments.

To make a quick check of whether its your add-ons that have the problem, run IE 9 in InPrivate Browsing. Doing so disables add-ons on IE 9. Now try opening the sites that were not opening.

To locate InPrivate Browsing, right click on IE 9 icon at the bottom-left of your screen. If it worked, disable InPrivate Browsing. Now begin to disable add-ons one after the other until you find the faulty add-on. Try disabling BHOs download manager as this has been known to cause IE 9 crashes with other users.

If IE 9 still is crashing do a reset of IE 9: go to network and sharing center Network And Sharing Center >> Internet Options >>Advanced >> Reset. Using the some steps: Network And Sharing Center >> Internet Options >>Advanced >> select Use Software Rendering Instead Of GPU Rendering.

Kind regards Mark Kellen

Hi,

To uninstall Internet Explorer 9, you need to go to Programs and Features. Go to Start then type in Programs and Features for the computer to search for it click choose View installed updates which should be found on the left pane. Go under Uninstall an update and go down to the Microsoft Windows area.

Look for Windows Internet Explorer 9 and right click on it then choose Uninstall. Click Yes. Restart the computer right there and then or you can also restart later for the changes to take effect. This should take you back to Internet Explorer 8.

Thank you. Hope it helps.

Hallo Byron,

Internet explorer, in my own experience, has a lot of bugs and that is why it will keep on crashing every time you attempt to watch a video online and sometimes during the normal surfing. I will advice that you revert to internet explorer 8 if it did not present the problems that you having in IE9.

But if you not an Internet Explorer go-hard, I will advice that you try other stable browsers like Mozilla Firefox or Google chrome which do not have the many problems like the one that you are having right now in IE. I use Mozilla and it has never crushed even a single day.
