Hi,
Modding your Half Life game is indeed difficult since you are running it on Mac OS, but thanks to Wine we can now use Windows apps and programs in our Mac OS. Anyway, you can use Valve Hammer Editor in order to edit maps in your Half Life. Valve Hammer Editor supports Source and GoldSrc game engines as well as the Quake game engine which is used by Half Life itself.
