It is true that the snipping tool is not easily discoverable in Windows 8. If you cannot fin the tool just by searching for it in the Start Menu (Metro UI), you can try and press the Windows key and the "S" key to bring up a searching bar. In that Searching bar just type the word "snip" and the program will show up. If not, there is another way.
You can open Windows Explorer and then navigate to the C: drive and then access the Windows folder, and in that access the system32 folder. The snipping tool program will be present in that folder can be accessed at any time.
If by any chance you are not able to find it, i recommend in using an alternative called Shutter. Â It is a free and feature rich screenshot program in which you can capture a specific area, capture the entire desktop, or just a window and even a website. It also offers a series of editing tools like adding text, arrows, rectangles, censoring tool, auto-incrementing shapes and even croping the selection.Â
