Could not access internet using the new modem CM100

I have cable Internet at home. I decided to change the modem that the ISP gave me.

I thought it was a good idea.

The problem is, I can't go online thru the new modem.

If I replace the new modem with the old modem, the Internet works.

My new modem is a CM100.

Take note of these:

1. Make sure the computer is properly plugged to the CM100.

2. Make sure the Either cable is a known working cable.

3. Make sure your power adapter is properly plugged into both the cable modem and the electrical outlet or surge protector.

Make sure the Power, DS, US, and Online LEDs on the CM100 is solidly lit. The Link LED must be solidly lit or flashing.

If the above conditions are met. Reset the modem. Press the Reset button on the back panel of the cable modem. Use an object with a small tip, such as a pen, push the button until you feel it click. The Online LED should be lit after that. You should also go online

If you are using a cable line splitter so you can connect the cable modem and a television at the same time, remove the splitter and reconnect your cables so that the cable modem is connected directly to the cable wall jack.

When the Online LED is solidly lit, try to connect to the Internet again.

Do I need to use a Straight thru or a cross-over cable?

I believe it will not matter if it is straight thru or cross-over.

Eloisa is correct. It does not matter if the cable is straight thru or cross-over as long as it is a working cable.

Also, the cable modem should come with a USB Cable, CAT 5 Ethernet Network Cabl, User Guide and USB Drivers CD-ROM upon purchase.

You may use those cables to install the modem.

My friend gave me the new CM100 modem so it did not come with cables at all.

I will use the Straight thru cable then.
