I am facing the following error – access is denied, unable to remove device (printer device). I am trying to remove the network device from my Windows 7 PC. Is there any workaround for this?

A – When you face access is denied, unable to remove device (printer device) error; you should turn off the spooler and delete the registry key.

Method 1

  1. Open the Command prompt as an Administrator.
  2. Type net stop spooler and press enter.
  3. Press Windows + R.
  4. Type Regedit and press enter.
  5. Go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Connections
  6. Delete all the unnecessary printer keys.
  7. Open the Command Prompt as admin.
  8. Type net start spooler and press enter.
  9. Restart your device.
  10. You can remove the printer.

Method 2

  1. Search printmanagement. msc in the start search box.
  2. Run as administrator.
  3. Right-click on your printer.
  4. Go to Properties.
  1. Tick all the check-boxes.
  2. Click on OK.
  3. Now delete the printer from print management itself.
