Big problem with my Avira

My Windows 7 has gone to hell due to virus, spyware and Malware activity. My hard disk has almost crashed. So, I took an Antivirus to kill all of the harmful programs. This is Avira Antivirus premium one year.

After I installed it, I can see it is fun.The system is sending me two pesky messages.

Error:

Avira AntiVir Personal – Free Antivirus

CCPLG.XML:

Unable to find file (C:Program FilesAviraAntiVir Desktopccplg.xml)

Messenger Plus! – Installation Altered

Messenger Plus! has not been installed properly on this system.

I tried to uninstall this Antivirus but it makes a bad sound and cannot be uninstalled. I think it will not be removed until parenting system setup again.

But I don't want to set up again. It is very annoying to set up again & again. Please give a solution who is expert in Avira.

Hi! Jackeline,

It is really hard to completely remove an Antivirus. Sometimes you can remove the programs and unconsciously there will still be a lot of patches left on the system. Here is a very simple solution to your problem.

  1.     Try booting your computer on Safe mode.
  2.     To do so restart your computer and Press F8 while its restarting
  3.     While you are already on safe Mode, uninstall the Antivirus.
  4.     After uninstalling search for the Avira by Clicking on Start and use the Start Search bar
  5.     If the result is none that means everything is now set!

However, if it still shows a file or even an empty folder, use a Force Uninstaller like Brute Uninstall

Note: You must boot your computer in normal mode to download the force uninstaller then go back to safe mode to remove Avira.  Doing a force  uninstall while on safe mode should fix this problem.

Hope this helps.

Thank you

Hi Jackeline

First you have to download Revo uninstaller, and then run the setup to install it.

After installing the software restart the computer. Run the program. When the revo uninstaller window appears you will see the listing of all programs installed. Select the Avira antivirus program and also select medium uninstallation. On to your top right click uninstall. Follow the self-explanatory steps to finish the task.

It’s always healthy especially with strong programs to restart after installation or uninstallation.

Lastly it’s advisable to clean registry and also clean C.

If this fails let me know ASAP I tell you another way that does not involve installation of any software

That problem happened because you installed the free version of the Avira antivirus on an already infected computer. Because it is a free version, it offers only basic protection that’s why it got easily crippled by the virus when it was installed. Download Sophos Virus Removal Tool and install it on your computer.

When Sophos is finished updating its virus definitions, click “Start scanning” to scan your entire computer. It will scan everything that is connected to your machine including USB flash drives and other external storage devices. The scan will take a lot of time depending on the amount of data stored on your computer.

When a virus is found, remove it then repeat the scan until it no longer detects a virus. When Sophos can no longer detect a single malware, download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install it. Once installed, start Revo then select your Avira antivirus from the list and click “Uninstall.” Follow the normal uninstall process.

When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftovers. Delete everything it finds to remove everything the program created on your computer. Restart your computer then download the free version of CCleaner and install it. Once installed, start CCleaner and clean your system. Restart your computer and download the Sophos Home free antivirus.

If you want to convert CCleaner to Pro, download the codes and follow the instructions.
