I read that IE makes the best of laptop battery life compared to other main browsers, but my question is why is that so? Does it really make a big difference?

Now-a-days People do not use IE often. They are happy by using Mozilla/Chrome/Opera/Safari. Though internet explorer has lack of speedy browsing, it is the most power saving efficient browser.

I don’t think there’s a difference with the battery consumption of Windows Internet Explorer and other web browsers. Most of the major web browsers don’t use much graphics that’s why I don’t think there is a difference with the battery consumption of every browser. And besides, it is not only the web browser that consumes the battery when the web browser is running.

There are many background processes that run continuously together with the browser and they are the ones that consume the battery continuously when the computer starts. While with Windows Internet Explorer, it will only start consuming power when it is actually started and used.

The Windows Internet Explorer is now becoming less popular since the majority of the users prefer other web browsers like Opera, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. The power consumption of a web browser increases if you open a web page that contains many different moving banners and animated images like the ones used by ad banners.

This is because as the banners and animated images play and animate on the page continuously, the processor processes every animation and transition they create thus increasing the processor usage. This applies to all web browsers. If you close the page with many animated images and banners, the processor usage lowers down and this decreases the battery consumption.
