Windows XP home version doesn't come with the backup utility in its default package, but on the full installation disk, where it is present in VALUEADDMSFTNTBACKUP. But, many vendors don't sell the entire installation system anymore; in which case, a third party backup software must be used. Windows XP Professional edition has the inbuilt backup facility in system tools under accessories under start. Choose the wizard mode and choose backup. Choose your backup preferences and source and destination files. This application can only backup files up to 4GB and backup drives must be formatted with NTFS. The backup cannot be directly done on a CD- ROM. A copy must be created on the hard drive. Or, you can use a packet- writing software and a cd-rw. Further settings can be found under advanced options, click Finish when done, to obtain this screen.
