Dear TechyV,

When I try to open an old Autocad drawing file I get an error "FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x000c Exception at 654bdec7h".  I tried AUDIT and RECOVER but It still doesn't open. For your information, there are Xrefs attached in my drawing.

I hope my drawing file is not corrupted because I really need it for my project. Anyone with Autocad 2007 or other versions are welcome to help me, I really need this problem solved.

Thank you in advance.

Hello Elizabeth,

To resolve the error that you are getting when you try audit and recover using AUTOCAD, you will need to use the following workaround:

  • Recover the files with the following process:
  • You will need to recover the files using R14.
  • After you have done that, you will need to save the files using the R12 dwg format.
  • And after that you can go ahead and then recover the new files in the current version of AUTOCAD.

If you will get the issue after that, you might need to go to Google and then look for a hotfix that will help you fix the bugs that the AutoCAD application may be having.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Carl
