Hi everyone,

I was just playing around with Afterburner when I came across it in my friend’s computer and suddenly an error popped up as shown below. I don’t want my friend to come and see this error so please help me solve it soon.

Thanks.

AfterBurner 1636 uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because it is self signed

This could be a problem with the server’s configuration or it could be someone trying to impersonate the server.

If you have connected to this server successfully in the past the error may be temporary and you can try again later.

You don’t actually need to be worried because it is only about the application’s security certificate and it doesn’t affect the functionality of the program. Most programs you install on your computer especially those that were downloaded from the internet normally come with their own security certificate. This is normal for most downloaded applications.

An example of a file that has a security certificate is the video card driver that users download from NVIDIA website. The installer of the driver bears the security certificate indicating the duration of the certificate’s validity. The certificate normally contains the signer’s name which here is NVIDIA Corporation and the signing time. See image.

In your case, the security certificate used by Afterburner is no longer valid which normally means that it has already expired. There is really no problem with the program. The invalid security certificate will not affect the main function though you cannot access the program’s online features because of the expired certificate.
