Greetings to All,
I am installing our new application and I've found that it needs to have Adobe Flash player to fully appreciate its features. So, I downloaded Adobe Flash player, but during the installation the following error occurred.
Â
It said "failed to install".
Â
Â
Adobe Flash Player ActiveX Setup
Â
Failed to install.
Â
For troubleshooting tips, please see

I think the installer that I downloaded might be corrupt. So, I repeated the download but got the same error in the process of re-installing. I am now run out of ideas on how to solve this issue.
Â
Please help.
Adobe Flash Player ActiveX Setup Failed to install.
Hi,
Â
I've encountered the same install errors – here are two solutions:
Â
-
You have probably installed the Flash Player version 8.0.22 or some earlier version and there still are some related OCX. Files that you haven't deleted as yet. Open your folder in C:Windowssystem32Macromedflash and you'll find the OCX File Folder, click the Properties and delete the OCX files of version 6 or 7 or 8.0.22, then refresh the folder.
-
Click your IE Manage Add-ons, reset the ActiveX from Forbidden to Enable.
Â
Or delete the registry key as follows:
-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMacromediaFlashPlayerActiveX
-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMacromediaFlashPlayer
-
And re-install your Flash active X and Click your IE Manage Add-ons, reset the ActiveX from Forbidden to Enable.
Â
Hope this works for you.

Here are steps to install Adobe Flash Player correctly:
First uninstall ThreatFire. If the computer's firewall is running, please disabled it. Also uninstall anything related from the computer registry. Restart your computer. Start download Adobe Flash Player from the links below.

-
Adobe Flash Player 3 Mb: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/debug_downloads.html
-
Adobe Flash Player Uninstaller 205 Kb: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/debug_downloads.html#uninstaller
Â
-
Set your firewall open and disable all security software. Run the file, install_flash_player_10_active_x.msi. Reset your Internet Explorer Security Zones since the Flash uses Active X control. Make a registry file to detach the kill-bit for the Adobe Flash control by this method:
-
Using Notepad, make a file with the following in it:
Â
————-Copy-inside-only————–
Â
-
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00.
-
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet ExplorerActiveX Compatibility{8FFBE65D-2C9C-4669-84BD-5829DCOB603C}] [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet ExplorerActiveX Compatibility{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}]

Save this as IEÂ Â _Flash.reg. Merge it into the registry.
