Adobe CS4: Image too large to upload

I want to make a drawing using Adobe CS4 Illustrator and save it as a high resolution JPEG image. I will be uploading it to a dedicated photography website so I need to make it printable with 20×30 in size. I saved the drawing for photo and web device then upload it to the photography website. The problem is I keep receiving error stating that the uploaded image is too large and the quality will become blurry. Do you guys have any idea on how can I get rid with the error like this?

Hello Tyler,

As it is common with many websites, there are restrictions on the size of images that you can upload; the main reason being  so as to make sure that the website does not end up being slow.

So the solution to your problem will be to reduce the size of the image to a smaller resolution which is acceptable by the standards of the website that you want to upload the image to. Otherwise you can try changing the format in which the image is saved, for instance to the .gif format which may reduce the size of the image hence make it uploadable to that particular website.

Hope this helps.

What you need to do is check the maximum upload size of the website. Every website that allows a user to upload files has restrictions on the size of the file that can be uploaded. This is necessary so users will not abuse the service. They also have limitations on the formats of the files allowed to be uploaded.

If you receive that error when uploading your file, check the maximum upload size of the website. Once you verify the maximum file size, open your file again in Adobe Illustrator then make some changes to the file like lower down the size of the canvas or save the file in a lower quality.

When saving the changes, always use the “Save As” option and save the file with a different file name so the original file will stay unmodified. Also, try saving the file using a different file format like for example from JPG to PNG and so on.
