Can a stolen Mac be wiped with configured root and boot option password? A friend recently lost his Mac Laptop and activate find my Mac and he cant find the mac on the network. The mac Laptop was configured with root and boot option password. What might the thief done with the mac that prevents it from detection?

Hello,

 

That protection software is not powerful enough to prevent a knowledgeable person from doing as they wish with a machine. It is also possible that the machine was not stolen and used as a primary machine. The thief may have stolen the machine in order to take hardware components. The machine could also be sitting in a waste management facility getting crushed.
