There is an Archos plugin root that contains updates, but first you will have to buy the plugins from their website and then follow the instructions that will be sent to you by mail.
You can also get updates by connecting the program to a WiFi network, then go to the settings in the menu and from the firmware and plugins select online firmware update.
From the Archos website you can get other ways to also update the firmware.
