Fans / Cooling

I have a Pentium 4 computer that was previously overheated and shut down, however after checking for loose connections on the processor, It was established that the heat sink was not as effective. is there a way that one can establish if the heat sink has a problem and rectify.? Do I need to change the heat sink?

I use a utility software to  monitor the speeds of rotation of the fans, I noticed that the system fan is much slower than the CPU fan, is this normal? The speed of the system is much lower yet the ambient temperatures are quiet high, There has been instances where the computer shuts down unexpectedly, could this be the course?

Hi! My dell latitude 13 is always over heated in summers due to excessive use. But I cannot minimize the usage of laptop because almost all of my work is related to computer. So I bought this cooling fan for my laptop and heard that it would minimize the heating process. Cooling fan is much like a small table on which you place your laptop and connect your laptop with it via USB. The problem is that even after using the cooling fan, laptop is still over heated and sometimes it restarts automatically due to over heating which results in data loss sometimes.

I have a desktop computer and the heat sink is not cooling so the computer keeps restarting. I have checked for the temperature using the bios interface and found that the core temperatures are rising to over 90 degrees then the computer shuts down. Do you need another heat sink or how can I correct for this one?

My desktop PC has two fans and one of the fan has started giving noises after a while has passed after turning on the computer. This usually happens when I am running high end games or applications. Also the PC has started becoming really hot due to one fan not functioning properly. Can I fix this fan? Is it repairable or will I have to replace it?

Hi there folks,

1 month before I purchased a new Dell Alienware Aurora. I like to play lots of games on it. First 3 weeks it worked pretty well without giving any type of problem.

But last week onwards when I am starting a game on that, after 4 hours of time loud noise is coming from that. I think the fan in that is making Noise. That sound is coming continuously until I switch it off.

Is this an issue with fan or motherboard? Can anyone help me figure out the problem? Many Thanks for your help in advance.

Hello,

I am using Dell Latitude D620 laptop with Windows 8 on it. It was working fine. But, just from last week the CPU fan stopped running and the CPU gets overheated. I found one thing that the fan is working when I plugged in to the AC adapter. I went to a laptop repair shop and as they suggested I have replaced the motherboard with a new one but still the fan doesn't work.

If there is some problem with the motherboard as well then I don't need to return my new motherboard. Any help is very much appreciated.
