Screenwriter 2000 crashes on Windows 8

Hello.  I have been a long time user of Movie Magic ScreenWriter 2000 for all my screenwriting needs.  It also has the script-to-PDF output which is very useful to me.  I  have upgraded to Windows 8 and the program now crashes when launched.  Is there something I can do to make it work on Windows 8?  Thanks.

Screenwriter 2000 crashes on Windows 8

Hello Gregory,

It seems to be compatibility issue. You can try some basic troubleshooting steps like "Run the program as administrator". 

Right click on the Magic movie Screenwriter 2000 shortcut icon and choose Properties.

Once you click on properties then click on Compatibility.

After clicking on Compatibility, in privilege section, check box labeled "Run this program as administrator"

And then click on OK.

Screenwriter 2000 crashes on Windows 8

If you are using Movie Magic Screenwriter 2000, the latest version is Movie Magic Screenwriter 2000 version 4 (4.73.03). But even if you update to this version, the program is still not compatible with Microsoft Windows 8. Movie Magic Screenwriter 2000 4.73.03 supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. Windows 8.x and Windows 10 are not supported.

If you need to use the program, you need to upgrade to Movie Magic Screenwriter 6. It supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10. For Macintosh, it supports OS X 10.10 Yosemite, 10.11 El Capitan, 10.12 Sierra, and 10.13 High Sierra.
