Zynga will not be coming up with a gaming console soon, would Facebook be enough to sustain their market share given that they only capture a chunk of the social network's subscribers?
John Schappert, Zynga’s COO said that they are not interested to join the console market. He even believes that console games maybe in trouble because a lot of people nowadays are into the social and mobile gaming already. He said that the situation is likened to film vs. television where people watch television more than they watch movies. He added that the mobile and gaming entities capture the same magic as the television does. Few games are being bought. And when people do buy a game, they played with them for a longer time. A lot of people don’t have much time to play for a longer period of time, say about 2 hours. They only have about fifteen minutes or so. That’s why these social and mobile games clicked. People can play with them anywhere, when they are bored, and for a shorter period of time.
