Hi,

I am using Linux Operating System and getting the following error message. I receive this error message when I try to start or play any kind of media (DVD or mpg/divx file). I also get the same error message on the console output. How can I avoid this Xine engine error message. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The Xine engine failed to start

Hello Terry,

The program needs a package to function properly. As the package is lacking from your system, for its dependence on the package, it is unable to run.

The package is called “libxine1-ffmpeg”. Open a terminal and run the following command:

$ apt-get install libxine1-ffmpeg

This will download and install the package. Then run the program once again.
