I bought Xbox One from Amazon.com. Xbox One already had some games pre-installed in it. I had a few games in my WD Passport 1TB external Drive. I connected my HDD with Xbox One but it couldn't recognise HDD. It says, "USB can't be read". Please help me with this error.

Xbox One external Drive detection Error.

An Xbox One is normally equipped with a 500 GB internal hard drive. This is already big to store games and applications. If you have an external hard drive and you want to use it on your Xbox One, the external hard drive must meet the following: it must have at least 256 GB capacity and uses USB 3.0.

Since you said you have a 1 TB Western Digital external hard drive, you should be able to use it on your Xbox One. But if you already tried connecting the hard drive to Xbox One and it prompts you with a “USB can’t be read” error, make sure the drive is really working.

Connect it first to your computer and check if it is accessible. If not then that’s the reason why Xbox can’t read it. Try fixing it first before connecting it back to your Xbox One. If you haven’t formatted it yet or there is no partition in it, try creating a partition and format the hard drive using NTFS file system.
