I have bought an xbox 360 where I play and record games. I have also recorded games on my PC and have many DV-AVI videos of it. Now, I want to copy it all to xbox 360, but I get an error that it is in unrecognized format. In what format do I have to convert it for it to work?

The video formats that the XBOX 360 supports are:

  1. .avi
  2. .divx
  3. .mp4
  4. .m4v
  5. .mp4v
  6. .mov

There is also a recommended resolution or quality for each video format for optimal playback on the console.

XBOX 360 generally supports the following video formats:
1. (.AVI).

2. H.264.

3. MPEG-4.

4. WMV.

So if your video isn't being recognized by Xbox 360 then try converting the videos to the format stated above and then try to transfer them to your console either with USB or WiFi or whatever suits you.

Hello,

Xbox is one of the best gaming console which also supports different media formats to be played. Unfortunately, it doesn’t support all formats. So you have to convert those into supported formats.

Xbox supports MP4, M4V, MP4V, MOV and WMV file formats only. So, before you are going to play any media content in Xbox, you have to convert your files into the mentioned formats.

Here are some converters which I suggest you to convert your files:

  • Any Video Converter: A nice and powerful converter. It is such a converter that support 60+ input formats and convert them into your required format. There is a special section for Xbox converting so you have nothing to worry.
  • Format Factory: The best converter ever I have used. It is fast and supports any files to any required format. Its GUI is so user friendly that you will be easily able to handle it and get your converted files.

After converting, simply play them in your Xbox via USB or DVD.
