Hi Brainy,

I am facing this error whenever I open the XBMC; I have windows 8 64 bit operating system. I closed the program and reboot the system to check whether this might solve the error. Thinking of this might be the problem with the drivers. Do I need to re-install the drivers? Is this the problem with the video card? I am not sure where the problem is please help. Thanks in advance.

It seems the problem is actually your operating system’s architecture or version because you are using a much newer operating system. For XBMC to work, you need an x86 operating system which is either Windows XP Service Pack 3, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. Microsoft Windows 8 x64 is not supported.

So if you want to use and install XBMC, I think it would be best to downgrade your operating system to any of these versions. Aside from Windows 8, among the operating systems that are not supported includes Windows Server and Windows Home Server but according to reports the last two operating systems worked but applying some tweaks.

You may also try running XBMC in compatibility mode for Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. Try any of these platforms when running under compatibility mode though I’m not sure if it’ll work.
