A friend gave me a ton of 3d bluray movies but I only have a regular bluray player. I have the Sony BDP-S380 Full HD 1080p with wireless LAN. Would the 3d bluray movies play on my Sony BDP-S380?

Blu-ray 3d was made with backward compatibility to 2D Blu-ray disc players.
Technically speaking MVC "Multiview Video Coding" (3D) stream is backward compatible with 2D Blu-ray players we have.
Sony even released a firmware upgrade for Playstation 3's so it can also play 3D Blu-ray discs.
Good news on that… No need to buy a new player just to get those tons of 3d Blu-ray movies you have now.
*now if it wouldn't play, a firmware upgrade might be necessary for your player, and I suggest you call in for SONY tech support regarding the procedure on how to get the firmware upgraded.

The Sony BDP-S380 had no problems playing the 2D content we threw at it.
It's not a 3D player, so if you want to watch a 3D Blu-ray movie on your 3D TV reviews  you'll need to get a more expensive unit like the BDP-S480.
Picture quality will be perfectly acceptable.
There's no video quality problems when watching Blu-ray content on a Full HD screen and streaming through BRAVIA Internet Video is generally acceptable.
