I HTC500 Desire Smartphone, with 16GB SD card inserted. I have connected the USB to this phone and plugged the other to Windows 8 PC with the hope of accessing the files on the SD card via pc. However, the SD card is not showing on the computer end. What should be done since the SD card as I am sure works all fine. Please I'll appreciate every kind of help offered. Thanks in advance

Hi ,John, The HTC 500 Desire is one of my favorite phones, It packs beats speakers, About your problem, Since you are sure that the SD card is in working condition, The problem should be with the windows' drivers, You can fix this by installing windows drivers, You can download windows driver and HTC manager from here, The HTC sync manager will help you to sync your phone , All you need is to launch HTCDriver_4.0.1.002.exe, Then restart your computer, The phone should now connect normally.

I don’t think that will work because no application was used to access the phone’s contents. Microsoft Windows alone is not capable of browsing the contents of any Smartphone including its internal storage. For you to be able to access and browse the contents of your phone, you need to install the PC software of your phone.

Since you are using an HTC Desire 500 Smartphone, download HTC Sync Manager and install it on your computer.

The latest version at the moment, HTC Sync Manager 3.1.88.3, supports Windows XP (Home, Professional, or Media Center edition) Service Pack 2 or higher (32-bit only), Windows Vista (Ultimate, Enterprise, Business, Home Premium, or Home Basic edition) Service Pack 1, Windows 7 (Ultimate, Professional, Home Premium, or Home Basic edition), Windows 8.x, and Windows 10 (Home, Enterprise, or Professional edition) both 32-bit and 64-bit.

It requires 2 GHz Dual-Core Intel or equivalent AMD or faster processor, 2 GB RAM, 1024 x 768 minimum screen resolution, 512 MB free space, and USB 2.0 port. For Mac, it supports OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard and higher. For HTC Smartphones running on Sense 3.6, you need to use HTC Sync but unfortunately, it is no longer being provided as download on the HTC website.

HTC Sync and HTC Sync Manager are two different programs. For more info on HTC Sync, go to Support for HTC Sync.
