I have some problems with my Windows XP auto update, everything is okay until I try to install the updates (It's set to manual install and automatic download). The error that my Windows XP gives is that WINDOWS SEARCH 4.0 Cannot be installed, even if I exclude windows search it keeps failing and not installing my critical updates. Any Fixes????

Windows Installer

This installation package could not be opened.

Contact the application vendore to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

It seems that you have lower version of windows installer, you have go to update windows installer. You can download windows installer 3.1 or may be higher version would have been released anyway search for the latest version of windows installer, download it and install it. It is easily available on Microsoft official website’s support center.

Or may be you have download corrupt file to install, So if you won’t able to unpack this package after even updating windows installer then you need to download update files again or from any other source, I mean website etc.

REGARDS!!

Hi friend,

You can not update your windows if you are using unofficial or duplicated windows XP installation CD. Install windows XP again and then try to open them. Install a full version of windows XP. Do not install theme version or any editing version. Use original Microsoft windows XP professional CD.

Make sure that license key is original. Do not use fake license key to install XP. Update can be installed clearly if you have real license key from Microsoft Corporation. This error shows because your window XP is not registered with Microsoft. Try to use registered license key for windows. It will update without any problem.

Make sure that you have turned on windows XP automatic update. If you are not able to do this then follow this path control panel > security center > Turn on automatic update.
