Windows Vista startup error: RunDLL

I have my laptop running Windows Vista. I always get an error message whenever the Windows loads.

Is this caused by a virus?

But I already scanned my computer using the Microsoft Security Essentials and found nothing.

I can’t even use System Restore because I recently disabled it.

Do you have any suggestions about how to fix this?

This RUNDLL is a very annoying error especially in Windows Vista. You can fix a ‘RUNDLL’ error loading message on start-up. You need to discontinue the process by erasing it from running in the ‘Windows Registry Editor’.

You need to run the ‘Registry Editor’.

To resolve this problem, Open Run from the Start Menu, and then type R.

NOTE: The Windows Registry is an essential and critical element of Windows, so use the highest carefulness in editing the CORRECT registry keys. If you make a mistake you will end up corrupting your entire system.

For instance. Edit and press Enter.

  1. Go to the Start menu and open Run, type in RegEdit and Enter.
  2. Open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder.
  3. Open Software folder.
  4. Open the Microsoft folder.
  5. Open Windows folder.
  6. Open the Current Version folder.
  7. Click on the Run folder.
  8. Click on the WildTangent CDA file (RUNDLL32.exe).
  9. Press Delete key and Delete the file.
  10. Restart your system it will be fixed.

By the way Microsoft itself recommends the following steps to get rid of this annoying error:

  1. Run the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool.
  2. Download it, install it, update it and then run:
  3. Super Anti spyware (freeware) and Malware bytes' Anti-Malware (freeware).
  4. Run this online scan Better to run in safe mode on this link.

Hope this helps.

Hello,

Your problem can be solved but before solving that I want to inform you that it is not necessary that your PC Dell files always damaged are the causes of virus. Now my first suggestion is that you should use the BitDefender Antivirus 2011 for the security and for this problem you can use the award wining DLL software "DLL Error Repair".

It is certified by Microsoft and McAfee.
