I have this weird error when I want to install Internet Explorer 8 on my Windows XP. Before installing Internet Explorer I made the updates for Windows and now it seems like Internet Explorer 8 is older than my OS. What is happening ? How can I solve this one ?

You are facing a pretty normal issue. You are facing this problem because your PC is updated to the latest software than the one you are trying to install. Ignore the update notification and refresh the windows update center. You won't see the update notification again.
If it still doesn't solve your issue, you probably are using the beta version of XP service pack. In that case:
1. Uninstall the service pack.
2. Download and install the Service Pack from the windows website.
3. Now, try to install the Internet Explorer Update.
Overall, try to avoid any windows update from third party websites and you will not face these issues again.Â
