Can someone help me figure out why I get an error message saying
Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network, Group policy processing aborted?
This forces me to restart my server each day, and I am tired of this. I am looking to settle this issue once and for all.
Anybody who has a solution for this?
Thanks.
Windows is unable to obtain my domain controller name
To resolve that issue, you will need to add some registry entry values as follows:
-
On your computer you will click Start, and then click on Run, and then type regedit in the window that will open and then click OK.
-
You will thereafter need to expand the following subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon
-
Next you will need to right-click on Winlogon, and then you will point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
-
You will need to give a name to the new entry, and then you will type GpNetworkStartTimeoutPolicyValue, and then press ENTER on your keyboard.
-
The next step will be to right-click GpNetworkStartTimeoutPolicyValue, and then click Modify.
-
Locate Base, and then click Decimal.
-
And in the Value data box, you will need to type 60, and then click OK.
-
Once you have done that, you will quit the Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.
