Windows is unable to obtain my domain controller name

Can someone help me figure out why I get an error message saying

Windows cannot obtain the domain controller name for your computer network, Group policy processing aborted?

This forces me to restart my server each day, and I am tired of this. I am looking to settle this issue once and for all.

Anybody who has a solution for this?

Thanks.

To resolve that issue, you will need to add some registry entry values as follows:

  1. On your computer you will click Start, and then click on Run, and then type regedit in the window that will open and then click OK.
  2. You will thereafter need to expand the following subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon

  1. Next you will need to right-click on Winlogon, and then you will point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  2. You will need to give a name to the new entry, and then you will type GpNetworkStartTimeoutPolicyValue, and then press ENTER on your keyboard.
  3. The next step will be to right-click GpNetworkStartTimeoutPolicyValue, and then click Modify.
  4. Locate Base, and then click Decimal.
  5. And in the Value data box, you will need to type 60, and then click OK.
  6. Once you have done that, you will quit the Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.
