Hello

We have got into this error message when we are trying to join to WSUS server:

Can't connect to SQL server may not be running

Please verify that SQL server is running and configured correctly on the server. Contact your network administrator if the problem persists.

And the only object that transformed was the name. I use it Windows 2008 R2 x 64 Enterprise versions. I need to solve it. Please help.

Hallo Gock,

The following workarounds should help you resolve the issue successfully:

  • First, you will need to try and edit the registry on your computer to change from the old name to a new name.
  • As for the next workaround, we view the issue that you are getting as a SSL issue. Such an issue occurs when the SSL has been enabled or configured improperly on the WSUS server. The console machine could be wrongly configured to use the SSL connection as well.
  • In the event that there is a value in the SSL textbox for the default website, or the WUS admin site you will need to delete it.
