I am setting up a server and also consulted a technician he told me about a term CAL (Client Access License) I am curious to know what Client access license is.
Windows Server 2012 Client Access License
A server CAL is a required license that gives the right to access services from Microsoft server software. Each user that access the server must have the access license.
Different types of CALs:
- User CAL: A user CAL allows a single user to connect multiple devices without having CALs for multiple devices.
- Device CAL: It allows any number of users to connect to the server via a single device having the license.
- Processor license: these are only available to few Microsoft server products such as Application center, BizTalk Server.
