Hello everyone,

I’m having trouble with my Windows Server 2008. The specific problem I’m having is in creating a setup of SQL 2008 SP1. The error message that appears after trying to do so is this:

“SQL Server Setup failure

SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

The setting ‘PCUSOURCE’ specified is not recognized.

Error code 0x84B40003”.

If you remember having this problem before please let me know; I’m done trying to do it myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have had this problem in the past and this is what I did to resolve it; what needs to be remembered is that to be able to do it successfully on the same server, you will have to install SCCM. It is also a requirement that you have Microsoft. Net Framework updated and updated Windows installed.

After all this, that is having installed these two things on your system, then you can go ahead to install the SQL 2008 SP1 on Windows Server 2008 without a problem. You will just have to follow the simple steps on you browser, which needs minimum knowledge to install and run your SQL.

This is what I did my self and got it right. Follow the simple instructions to get it right.
