Hello Mathew,

You did not tell about your operating system. What type of operating system you are running now.

There are so many reason for what windows restart. Most of the cases windows restart due to virus. Try to update your anti-virus and try to fix the virus. If you will not able to delete the virus with anti-virus, then delete the affected file. This will help you.

Sometimes windows restart due to the problem of BIOS. Update your BIOS as soon as you can.

Another reason of restarting windows is the temperature (above 60 degree Celsius) on the motherboard or processor.

If all of this will not help you, then you should reinstalling the windows.

This one will obviously help you.

Best of luck.

Hi Mattew,

Another cause of system rebooting is when there is a hardware failure. You should check if all the hardware you are using is connected properly. Another way is by checking the device manager for errors. This can be done by viewing the device manager. The computer also reboot when the memory is not working properly or if your memory is not enough for your computer usage.

Hi Mathew,

I would like to suggest you update the BIOS and the hardware drivers for Windows.

If it does not work, you might test the issue in Safe Mode and Clean Boot. If it only works in Safe Mode, the possible cause can be the hardware conflict. You better check if the processor fan is working properly or you better put some thermal paste in your processor.

When your computer suddenly restarts for no reason even if you are not doing anything, it is frequently caused by hardware. It can be a problem with your sound card, network or Ethernet card, or even with the video card. This can happen if these devices or one of these devices is built-in to your motherboard.

To check if the problem is with the sound card, try playing some music and see if there is a problem with the sound. Normally, when the sound card is becoming faulty, the sound it produces becomes distorted. There are also times the sound becomes so loud or so soft even if you are not touching the volume.

If you notice a problem with the sound and you are using your motherboard’s built-in sound card, you need to disable the sound card in the BIOS and buy a new dedicated sound card. Disabling the sound card from the BIOS will not fix the problem but will lessen the occurrence of the sudden restarting of the system.

If you are using the built-in network card of your motherboard, try checking if your connection frequently disconnects. If you notice frequent interruptions in your connection, there might be something wrong with your network card. In this case, you also need to disable your network card from the BIOS and buy a dedicated Ethernet card.
