I just got a new Samsung Focus and tried to update the software via Windows Phone.  However, I encountered an error and update did not finish giving out an error code 801812C1.  Then the phone turns off and on.  I wasn’t sure what happened with my phone.  Anyway, anyone who could help me fix the problem?  Thanks in advance.

Dear friend

  • These errors occur when updater checks for new drivers and its take too long which will result in updater throwing an error code.

Solution

  • Switch off the phone.
  • Restart the phone and hold on camera button.
  • After some moment black screen comes up which showing a device connected to pc.
  • Connect the phone to pc on USB.
  • Check the entry for portable device Schubert or other (not ‘Zune’) by opening device manager.
  • Switch off and restart the phone.
  • Connect the phone to pc and run the WP7 upgrade from Zune application.

Now “801812C” error is not going to occur at step 6.
