Hi,

I recently installed Media Coder on Vista.

It seemed the installation was successful but then one time when I started it, I got this error message, see below for the screenshot.

I closed the error message and tried to restart and the same thing happened.

Please help ASAP!  I can’t use the software right now.

Windows – No Disk

Here is how to fix the issue. Go to Start > Run. (In Windows Vista, right click the Start menu > Properties > Start Menu tab > Customize > click the Run command option). In the dialog box, type in compmgmt.msc and hit OK. The Computer Management window will appear. Click on the + sign by the Removable Storage > Libraries and right click on the drive then Properties. Change Retain dismountable media for: “0” minutes then Apply > OK > close the Computer Management window. Insert an Audio CD into the drive and eject it after few seconds. Run the Media Coder and see if it works.

Hallo Immobel,

I suspect the media coder requires that a CD be installed for it to work, so you can try inserting a CD or DVD and see the response. Otherwise the media coder that you installed may not be compatible with vista, and therefore you will need to check the system specs and download a version that is compatible with the operating system that you are using.

There could be also broken registries that are causing the software not to execute properly, and therefore you should a run a program that will fix the registries, one that I will suggest is an application ccleaner which you can download for free online. Install it on your computer and run it to fix the registry problems in the application.

If you want to install or before installing MediaCoder, make sure your computer meets the requirements. The latest MediaCoder at the moment supports Windows XP (32-bit only), Windows Vista (32-bit only), Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10 both 32-bit and 64-bit. It requires Quad-Core or faster processor, 8 GB RAM, and Intel HD Graphics 3000 or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 7 series or better video card.

If you are using Windows Vista, make sure it is 32-bit because the application does not support 64-bit Microsoft Windows Vista. I had a similar error in the past but with a different program and the cause is compatibility that’s why you need to check if your computer is compatible with the application. If you have upgraded your operating system, download the latest MediaCoder.
