Windows MSI Installer Error 1304 or Internal error 2203

Hi,

 

When I attempted to install IBM Rational Software Development from area results and resulted in an installation failure and displayed an internal error 1304 or internal error 2203. Can I fix the following error message? Please help me to resolve this issue.

Error: Internal Error 2203. C:BalticSetup1033_ClearCase_msi, -2147287008

Hi Darrel,
The error may occur due to two reasons:
Reason 1: A UNC style path ‘hostshare’ was specified during the creation of the release area.
Reason 2: There are files present in the directory during the previous installation and you are specifying the same local path.
The solutions to the above are:
Solution 1: Ensure that you specify a empty directory for the creation of the release area. There is an error if you create the release area in the same directory where the install package is unpacked.
Solution 2: Create the release area on the server, change the path that is local to the system and the creation of the release area will be successful.
