Windows Developer Preview on running Windows 8

My operating system is Windows 7 with 4GB RAM, Quad-Core, 1.7GHz processor capable of running Windows 8. But I am wondering why I cannot run Windows 8 32-Bit in my VirtualBox. When I tried running it, it just loads and stops at the preview saying, “Windows Developer Preview.” After that, it just disappeared and the computer says it needs to restart. So I just restarted my computer system and once again tried my luck but I got a similar message plus another message telling me that it meant to work in 32-Bit color but it has been reduced to 24-Bit. I could not think of any other solution to this. I already have tried some but it still did not work. Please help me fix this problem.

First and foremost you need to make sure Virtual Box is supported on one of your computers. To run Metro style apps, you need a screen resolution of 1024*768 or greater and DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM1.0 or higher driver. Make sure that you have the latest version of VirtualBox which is V4.1.2.

Download Windows 8's installer ISO file. Run VirtualBox and create a new virtual machine for Windows 8. The process is fairly standard, give at least 1024 MB of RAM and at least 20 GB of hard drive space.

If are you confuse, just follow the File attachments below.

Once you have successfully installed Windows 8.

Hi there,

First of all, try enabling IO APIC in System Settings (for the guest environment) in Settings -> System, Extended Features > and then, Enable IO APIC checkbox.

Try changing the setup by setting up the chipset to ICH9 and the IDE to IDE6.

Also, make sure you have enabled the USB ports that you want to use and that in: System > Processor Tab >, the CPU is set.

And if your machine does support Virtualization, Check the BIOS in your PC and ensure that Virtualization is “enabled”.
