I have an application which sends scanned images to a remote server. But my firewall service is blocking it. When I try to configure the windows firewall he error message appears "Windows cannot start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Services (ICS) service."

I have tried a lot to resolve this problem. But nothing is working right. Please help me out of this.

  1. Download the file named 'Sharedaccess.txt' attached here.
  2. Rename the file as 'Sharedacces.reg'.
  3. Double-click Sharedaccess.reg to enter the information in the registry.
  4. Reboot the Windows.
  5. Go to Start > Run, type 'command' and then press ENTER.
  6. A new window will appear where commands can be entered. Now write the following command > Netsh firewall reset.
  7. Go to Start > Run, type 'firewall.cpl' and then press ENTER.
  8. Configure the Windows Firewall settings that you want to use.
  9. If this technique does not work, reinstall Windows XP Service pack 2.
