Windows cannot boot, unless there is a DVD rom

I have a problem with Windows XP and this is my latest experience. I finished up my installation of Windows XP sp3… after I turned off the CPU and I unplug the DVD ROM, when I restart the computer it will not boot into Windows but restart continues.

This makes me wonder, after I plug it back to the DVD ROM. It can boot Windows and there is no master in DVD. I already uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times. But still problematic as above.

Hi,

Did you fix the jumper setting in your DVD ROM? At the back of your DVD ROM there is a jumper setting one is Master, two is Slave, and next is CS.

Please check the jumper settings and put the jumper into Slave setting.

Visit this site for more information:

Master, Slave and Cable Select HD Jumper Settings

Thank you hope it helps.
