Hello,

Such failure might be possible because of viruses or malwares present in your PC.

First, use any good antivirus, for instance, Norton, Kaspersky, Bit Defender etc. Download and install them on your PC and then run a full system scan. Remove any virus if found. Then, try to run the backup process.

Also, check your PC for correct date and time.

If none of the above works,

1. From Start menu, type “CMD” >> hit Enter.

2. Type and enter:
DIR /AL /S

3. Locate the reparse point >> right click on the reparse point >> select “Properties”.

4. From “General” tab, confirm “Mounted Volume” is the “Type”.

5. Delete the folder.

Now, there’s no reason that your backup shouldn’t go fine.

The main cause of this issue is really your antivirus but not always because it depends on the antivirus you are using. If you have either Microsoft Security Essentials or ESET NOD32 antivirus, it is more likely that you will have a problem creating a backup because the real-time protection ability of these antivirus programs prevents the backup from completing.

If you have ESET NOD32 or Microsoft Security Essentials, make sure to disable it first before you create a backup. Norton Internet Security has been tested and didn’t cause the backup to fail even if the program’s real time protection is enabled. Kaspersky Internet Security was also tested and it didn’t cause the backup to fail even though the real time protection feature is activated.

Depending on what antivirus you are using, if you experience a problem using Windows Backup because the backup doesn’t complete, try to disable your antivirus and try again. It should fix the problem.
